UCSUR (Universidad Científica del Sur) required the design of a signage system for its campus in Lima, Peru. Campus Villa contains laboratories for human and animal medicine, pharmacy, biochemistry, environmental and agroforestry engineering, among many others for five different faculties.
This campus sits at the south border of Pantános de Villa, a protected wetland that serves as a crucial habitat for over 200 species of birds and a precious oasis between ocean and city.
The architecture looks to link the common spaces with the campus's geographical context by restraining from perimeter walls and straight angles, easing trapezoid prisms into the horizon rather than opposing it.
Echoing these irregular volumes found in the architecture of the campus, the proposed signage system frames its content within angular shapes that could be arranged together in rhythmic clusters.
The University requested adhering to its existing brand colors and typography, prioritizing institutional identity as a whole over the branding of each particular faculty.
